I was a Representative from Florida on Twitter

So, two days ago Alan Grayson said some pretty interesting things. (Republicans want you to die). I thought it was awesome so I looked him up on Twitter. He didn't exist. I didn't want him to miss a chance to make some money, so I started @Alan_Grayson. People would check in and follow, and most of my posts led to ways to donate money. I figured the real @alangrayson would not let the opportunity to talk on Twitter pass by for too long and I would erase mine.

Weeeeell...this morning I noticed that real deal conservative icon commentator Michelle Malkin had wrote a mean editorial about Alan Grayson. So I write a tweet saying "you know you must be doing something right if @michellemalkin is writing lies about you." Well, much to my surprise, @michellemalkin (600,000+ followers) responded back with

(I had always suspected she never checked sources and talked crap not caring if it was true or not)

I went from having like 15o followers to like 400, and conservative trolls were flaming all over @alan_grayson. So the Liberal followers starting warring with the conservative trolls. It was crazy!

A website called Buzzflash.com thought I was real, then called Grayson's office to find out i am fake..here are their tweets...

However, @alan_grayson does not officially speak for the congressman, even if it supports him. Got that.

I thought that was awesome, and then I realized that what I am doing is a little wrong, even if I am trying to be right. I know that a lot of people are actually fooled into thinking I am him (I mean, I only have his name and picture and am tweeting exact quotes from him). So I try to contact his office to let them take over the account. I can't find any real addresses, so I have to send an email to his Lake County office. I am not even sure anyone checks it....

well, 5 hours later I get a letter from who I figure is a low level staffer....

I think people are getting a bit confused about the twitter feed and are wondering if it is actually Grayson speaking. Would you mind clearing that up and putting into the twitter feed bio that your twitter account is unofficial and that you are not Alan Grayson? It would also be useful to just put out a tweet that the twitter feed is unofficial.

I dont' want to give up though, and I really wanted Grayson to start tweeting (plus, I didn't want to tell 750 people I am an complete fraud.)

Thank you for contacting me. Didn't mean to cause confusion but there was a twitter vacuum and it seemed like a good way to raise a little money for you guys. Didn't think Michelle Malkin would actually think it was real.

Will be happy to crush peoples hopes, but it might not be as bad if Rep. Grayson is going to start using his Twitter feed. People are looking for a Democrat that doesnt' mind throwing a few elbows, and this would be a great way to get his voice heard.

Before I send out the tweet, do you know when or if Rep. Grayson is going to start tweeting? Would love to send all traffic his way.

Really hope I didn't cause any problems..I must admit I felt a little guilty..but he would be great on Twitter.

Then I start thinking, the original email was from a guy named Matt Stoller..and I am like, that name is familiar..and I look it up, and he is a pretty big guy in the liberal blogging world.....

Whoops! I now know that no matter how much I want Alan Grayson to tweet, it doesn't matter, they probably know more about politics than me (I am just a lowly teacher wanting to be in politics.)

So I send this email...

Oh, you are not just a Grayson staffer, you are "the" Matt Stoller, you already know exactly what you want me to do and have already told me. Getting on that Tweet right now.

I haven't heard back from him yet...but no matter what, by midnight I am coming clean....


I know 740 followers and a few 100 tweets aren't that great, but Michelle Malkin mentioned my fake account, but this is probably as close as I will get to Washington, and that's sad...haha....

Nonetheless, it was a fun day....but I was wrong (but in a good if weird way).

I think that'll be his twitter name, yeah. He hasn't decided how he wants to approach twitter. What do you think?
I write: I think that he should hurry up and jump on while he is new to the nation. He probably should mention it on one of his TV interviews that he is tweeting (though it is getting to be an old thing).
Pretty much just put up a quote every now and then of what he is saying, followed occasionally by what TV interview he is doing so people turn in (just don't make TV the only thing he tweets).

Reporters are pretty lazy, look how many times McCain and Gingrich get on TV or Politico just by tweeting out something. If you want to "win the morning" one day just say something controversial but true. You have a lot of people out there wanting someone to take on the Palins, Grengrichs, Becks and Malkins of the world.
